The Opéra Comique is preparing its reopening gala. But the star vocalist, Adèle (Anna Reinhold), refuses to appear alongside tenor Léon. However, the director Saint-Germain asks young and ambitious Margot to stand in for her at a moment’s notice. But her blue squirrel is mysteriously assassinated.
A veritable operatic thriller, this opéra comique was created on the Web in 2016 during the Favart off season as the Opéra Comique was closed owing to renovation work. It now appears onstage in the place that inspired it, with its musical allusions, the occupations and spaces of the theater, its humor, its surprises and the enthusiasm of a young cast, including mezzo soprano Anna Reinhold) who will sing Adèle and Al Sirbec from 23 to 25 March 2018. As funny as it is innovational, Le Mystère de l’écureuil bleu was designed by Marc-Olivier Dupin and Ivan Grinberg as an investigation for the youngest, an invitation to opera for grown-ups and a paper chase for Opéra Comique aficionados.
Anna Reinhold goes from contemporary music to baroque music with disconcerting ease. Thus, after the music of Marc-Olivier Dupin, it is JS Bach's music which will have her favors and more particularly the Mass in B minor that she will sing with The Cetra Barockorchester Basel conducted by Andrea Marcon at Basel on 2 and 4 March 2018.
But her palette will be enriched this season with her debuts in an important role: Mélisande under the baton of Jean-Claude Malgoire. After singing the title role in Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and at Tourcoing in 2016 under his direction, she sings this season in Bach's Magnificat at the Théâtre de Tourcoing and will therefore add Mélisande at her repertoire on 27 March 2018 in Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande in the same theater, two productions staged by Christian Schiaretti.
After that, she will sing in Washington and New York in May 2018, with Opera Lafayette and Ryan Brown for the program Visitors to Versailles as well as Pandora in Draghi's El Prometeo, at the Opéra de Dijon Opera under the baton of Leonardo Garcia Alarcon.
