And what better than music to smooth hearts ? Why not with Béatrice et Bénédict, opéra comique composed by Berlioz in 1862 and based on Much Ado About Nothing written by Shakespeare ? We can see this artwork thanks to a production from La Monnaie / De Munt in Brussels.
Mezzo-sopranos Stéphanie d'Oustrac and Michèle Losier perform Béatrice, tenors Julien Dran and Sébastien Droy, Bénédict, and sopranos Anne-Catherine Gillet and Sophie Karthäuser interpret Héro. In this imposing cast, we have the pleasure to listen to the impressive bass Frédéric Caton who performs Don Pedro. The musical direction is ensured by Jérémie Rhorer and Samuel Jean.
Frédéric Caton's 2015-2016 season is marked by his collaboration with the conductor Emmanuelle Haïm for Cavalli's Xerse at Lille Opera, Caen and in Theater an der Wien (Austria). Furthermore, he has been Bartolo and Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro in a french tour of 23 dates with La Co(Opéra)tive and he will soon play again Don Pedro at Glyndebourne festival.
