Catherine Trottmann and Frédéric Caton sing Gounod

at the Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur

The Opera Nice Côte d'Azur offers two beautiful roles to mezzo-soprano Catherine Trottmann and bass Frédéric Caton, who embody one Stéphano and the other Frère Laurent, in Gounod' Romeo et Juliette.

A new role debut for Catherine Trottmann this season 17/18 which, besides Stéphano, sees her singing for the first time the roles of Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Opéra national du Rhin, Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Dortmund and the Edinburgh International Festival  and Siebel (Faust) at the Opéra de Saint-Etienne.

Furthermore, she will be heard until this summer in Berlioz'  Les Nuits d'été with the Orchestre Régional de Normandie and giving recitals at the Festival de Pâques d'Aix-en-Provence and the Imperial Live Festival in Annecy, alongside pianist Karolos Zouganelis.

Frédéric Caton knows very well the role of Frère Laurent, for having already sung it in this same city of Nice, in 2003.

In addition, we can follow him this season, singing the roles of Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande by Debussy) at the Festival Classica in Montréal and the Festival de Québec, le Père (L'Enfance du Christ) on a tour  in the Czech Republic, the Marquis de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Opéra Grand Avignon,  Nourabad (Les Pêcheurs de Perles) at the Opéra de Limoges or Beethoven' 9th Symphony with the Orchestre Régional Avignon-Provence.
