François Rougier sings Le Remendado

… in Carmen, at Opéra Bastille

You can't judge a book by its cover and it will be in a smuggler's shoes that tenor François Rougier will make his debut (in broad daylight) at the Opéra National de Paris in the new production of Carmen by Bizet!

After participating from 2014 to 2016 on the tour of the CFPL (French Center of Lyric Promotion) with the Caprices of Marianne by Henri Sauguet, for which he sang the role of the noble and young Coelio on the stages of the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Operas of Marseille, Limoges, Tours and Reims, this time he settles down for 25 performances, at the Opéra Bastille, until July 16.

In addition to the opera, François Rougier is regularly invited to sing the oratorio repertoire, as evidenced by his recent appearances with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (Saint-Saens 's Oratorio de Noël), Ensemble baroque de Toulouse (Bach's Mass in B minor), the Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra of Lisbon (Bach' Johannes Passion), at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse (Beethoven's Mass in C) or the Compagnie Manque Pas d'Airs, directed by Alexandra Lacroix, with whom he prepares the creation in the fall of 2017 of Incarnation de l'invisible, the last part of a scenic triptych from Bach's Passions, initiated with Et le coq chanta ... and D'autres le giflèrent. Also coming with the same company, the creation of Voix intimes 14-18, recital in relation to the Great War.
