Frédéric Caton (almost) sings Tosca

At the Opéra de Paris

Although he obviously does not sing the title role, reserved for dramatic sopranos, bass Frédéric Caton nevertheless opens the work, as he sings the Sacristan of the church of Sant'Andrea della Valle hosting the first scene of Puccini's masterpiece: Tosca.

Initially scheduled to be performed from 6 May, the work will nevertheless be performed seven times at the Opéra Bastille, starting on 4 June.

After a final season at the Chorégies d'Orange, for a Samson et Dalila with Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Roberto Alagna, Frédéric Caton's 2021/2022 season promises to be rich in a more atypical repertoire; He will sing the roles of Arbas and Protée (Idoménée by Campra) at the Opéra de Lille and then at the Berlin Staatsoper, of Mérops and Saturne (Phaéton by Lully) at the Opéra de Nice and of Alain (Lancelot by Victorin Joncières) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
