Frédéric Caton's Season opening

in Marseille

Mozart's most popular music score is back on stage at the Marseille Opera House for six new performances. On this occasion, the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Marseille will play under the baton of Lawrence Foster and the staging will be ensured by Numa Sadoul. On the singers side, we will hear Frédéric Caton in the role of the Speaker (Sprecher).

The bass Frédéric Caton is leading an increasingly successful career, as shown by his rich 2019/2020 season in which he will embody the roles of Capulet (Romeo and Juliet) at the Teatro alla scala in Milan, Brander (Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust) at the Monte Carlo Opera, Zuniga (Carmen) at the Opéra de Marseille,  Merops (Lully's Phaéton) at the Opéra de Nice Côte d'Azur, the Second Philistine (Samson and Dalila) at the Chorégies d'Orange, Lucifer (Handel's La Resurrezione) with the ensemble Les Nouveaux Caractères at the Opéra royal de Versailles, or the solo bass part of Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre de Mulhouse.

A former member of the Atelier lyrique, then the ensemble, at the Opéra national de Lyon, he performed four seasons in numerous roles, such as Colline (Bohème), Le Moine (Don Carlo), Sarastro et le Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte), Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro), Don Fernando (Fidelio)...
Since then, Frédéric Caton has been regularly invited on stages all over the world: Konzerthaus in Vienna, Theater an der Wien, Barbican Center in London, Ravenna Festival, Frankfurt Opera, Salzburger Festspiele, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Edinburgh Festival, Gran Teatre del Liceo in Barcelona, Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, Royal Albert Hall in London... and in most major French opera houses.
