Geneviève de Brabant

A medieval heroine in Montpellier

After the success of some 200 Ophée aux Enfers performance, Offenbach was really expected by the public. Opéra-bouffe created in 1859, Geneviève de Brabant is reworked twice to become an opéra-féérie in 1875. It is based on a medieval legend about Genevieve's story who will be falsely accused of adultery by the intendant because he didn't succeed to seduce her. The adventures just begin and you would enjoy the end of the plot in Montpellier where Kévin Amiel will perform the Bourgmestre Vanderprout. Geniviève de Brabant's character inspired many writers and composers (including Erik Satie and Robert Schumann).

This season, Kévin Amiel made his debut at the National Opera of Montpellier in L'Hirondelle inattendue by Simon Laks and in L'Enfant et les Sortilèges. He interprets Gian Gianni in Milo et Maya composed by Matteo Franceschini at the Opera of Rouen and is Gastone in Traviata in Toulon.
