If we were to mention a major Polish work, it would probably be Stanisław Moniuszko's Halka. It was the first Polish "grand opera" and the composer's first success which earned him his nomination as director of the Warsaw Opera.
However, the work remains unknown in the rest of the world, especially in Western Europe. Appointment is made in Poland, in Krakow, as part of the Polish Music Festival (Festiwal Muzyki Polskiej), to discover this opera (in italian) with bass Renaud Delaigue (who will be Stolnik) and soprano Sheva Tehoval as Zofia, her daughter.
