This end of winter, the Opéra de Nice proposed The Rake's Progress which is an opera in three acts by Igor Stravinsky based on a series of eight engravings by the English painter William Hogarth - retracing the progressive decay of a young man who, led to his loss by a dark character (mix of Mephistopheles and Leporello) will end 'madhouse'.
After being the wife of this young man, Tom, at the Théâtres de Caen, Reims, Rouen, Limoges et au Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg, Isabelle Druet plays again the role of Baba the Turk alongside Julien Behr (Tom Rakewell) and under the direction by Roland Boër, staging by Jean De Pange.
For Isabelle Druet, this season 2018/2019 is marked by her reunion with the title role of Carmen (Bizet) at the Opéra de Saint-Etienne, a role she had already performed at the Opéra National de Lorraine and the Düsseldorf Opera House / Duisburg. We could discover her new Carmen next June in a staging by Nicola Berloffa and under the direction of Alain Guingal.
In the meantime, she also be on stage in the role of Concepción (L'Heure espagnole, Ravel) with the Ensemble Les Siècles under the baton of François-Xavier Roth at the Grand Théâtre de Provence (Aix-en-Provence), the MC2 (Grenoble), La Grange au Lac (Evian) and at La Cité de la Musique (Soisson). During this tour, we will also have the pleasure of hearing baritone Thomas Dolié as Ramiro.
