Isabelle Druet with Shakespeare

at the TAP  (Poitiers)

"Isabelle Druet passes from German to French, from English to Finnish with an ease that commands admiration, from the most exalted melodies to the most murmured songs, she tells us with passion and commitment the story of these Tragic heroines " (Emilie Munera FranceMusique.fr - 16/12/16 - Coup de coeur for the "Shakespeare Songs") .

The CD, which was published in December 2016 at NoMad Music (in co-production with RSB artists), will return on Thursday 16 March 2017 in the hall where it was recorded in 2016: the  TAP de Poitiers.

A linguistic virtuoso, a master of human emotions, an expert in Machiavellian stories of intrigue and tyranny, and a bard of love and of the moment - these are but a few of the many facets of the Shakespearian message. We follow him into the heart of humanity and its excesses, from madness to the burlesque, from despair to bonhomie, from hatred of one's fellow man to universal love. So is it really surprising that so many composers in so many languages have used such a rich tapestry of humanity, or that we - the singers at the end of this great chain - have decided to devote a recital to him?

Isabelle Druet, with her voice of honey, her gifts as an actress and her uncommon diction, is accompanied to perfection by the pianist Anne Le Bozec. The duo accomplice visits Schubert, Schumann, Rossini or Sibelius, a gallery of sometimes tragic figures such as Ophélie and Desdémone, but also lighter as Silvia or Cymbeline, ideal female silhouettes evoked with ardor, astonishment, rapture.

Isabelle Druet's record-breaking news is rich: another CD, Muses, released in September 2016 at Klarthe, recently won a Choc Classica.

Isabelle Druet is one of the most prominent mezzo-sopranos of her generation. She switch happily from the Opera repertoire to recital and cross centuries from Monteverdi to Britten with fascinating ease.

This is reflected in its rich and contrasting 2016/2017 season.  At the opera she sings the role of Baba the Turk for the co-production of The Rake's Progress (Stravinsky) at the Théâtre de Caen, then in Reims, Rouen, Limoges and the Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg; she is Melanto and Fortuna in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria (Monteverdi) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Opéra de Dijon, then returns to the Opéra de Paris for Tisbe in La Cenerentola (Rossini) from 10 june to 13 july 2017.
