Let's discover Coronis in Caen

with mezzo-sopranos Isabelle Druet and Brenda Poupard

At the beginning of November, the Théâtre de Caen makes the event with its new production: Coronis by Sebastián Durón.

This will be a co-production with the Théâtre national de l’Opéra Comique (Paris), Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Rouen, Opéra de Limoges and the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, opera houses in which one the production will be on tour during this season and the following one for the Opéra Comique). This is an invitation to  rediscover this Zarzuela created in the early 1700s and whose role of Triton (sea monster and adopted son of Neptune) will be held by Isabelle Druet. Iris, messenger of Jupiter and divinity of the rainbow will be ensured by Brenda Poupard, accompanied by Le Poème Harmonique, under the direction of Vincent Dumestre.

"Acrobats, dancers, musicians and singers bring this Spanish zarzuela back to life in a flamboyant and carnivalesque staging imagined by Omar Porras." This is how the Théâtre de Caen lets us imagine what will be the show!

After her stay in Caen, Isabelle Druet will sing again with François-Xavier Roth and his orchestra Les Siècles for Ravel's Shéhérazade (a work she recorded with the Orchestre national de Lyon under the baton of Leonard Slatkin in 2014) in Soissons, Paris , Frankfurt, Lorient and Lille. A faithful collaboration binds them since they worked together in many programs for almost 10 years including, recently, Isabelle Druet's very noticed and appreciate first time in the role of Cassandre in "La prise de Troie" (extract from Les Troyens) at the Berlioz Festival this summer, and her wonderful Concepción in L'Heure espagnole, on tour last season.

Among her projects for the 2019/2020 season are the role of Beatrice (Berlioz's Beatrice and Bénédict) at the Cologne Opera, Stéphane Mallarmé's Trois Poèmes with the Orchestre national de Lyon (conducted by Leonard Slatkin), Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été with the Douai Orchestra or Debussy's Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

For her part, Brenda Poupard has just returned from a tour of French melody recitals in Japan with pianist Jean-Michel Kim. Still with Le Poème Harmonique, she participates in the CD recording of Cadmus and Hermione by J-B Lully (with Thomas Dolié et Kaëlig Boché), in the role of L'Amour and Palès.

Moreover, she has recently been heard in the roles of Sesto (Handel's Giulio Cesare) and Lisetta (Haydn's Il Mondo della Luna) in two co-productions of the CNSMDP and the Philharmonie de Paris, or in the title role of Ravel's L'Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Théâtre d'Herblay.
