Soprano Marianne Fiset, who has just triumphed at the Vancouver Opera for her debut as Liù (Puccini's Turandot), offers us this month to listen to another masterpiece of the lyric soprano repertoire, the Vier letztze Lieder by Richard Strauss. She will be accompanied for this concert, given at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, by the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, conducted by Fabien Gabel.
Known for the warm and rich color of her voice and charismatic stage presence, Marianne Fiset has been hailed by critics and audience alike. Since she was awarded five top prizes in May 2007 from the Montreal International Music Competition, her career has so far led on many international stages, including the Opera National de Paris, the Washington Opera, Tampa, Vancouver, Victoria, or Halle and Marseille.
More recently, her performances of Blanche de La Force (Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites) at the Opéra de Montréal, Manon at the Opéra National de Paris Bastille, Mimi (La Bohème), Micaëla (Carmen) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) won praise from both the public and critics alike.
