As
the European Union celebrates its 60th anniversary, it is an ideal
opportunity to talk about the activities of our artists in Germany. This country, which loves music and opera, is a privileged destination, even a place of residence, of several artists of the agency.
British Soprano
Elizabeth Bailey (picture) is this season in the Ensemble of the Staatstheater Kassel and sings the roles of Comtessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), the title-role of Wolfgang Mitterer 's Schneewittchen and the title-role of Tommaso Traetta's Antigone.
A little further south, turkish baritone Levent Bakirci is a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Nürnberg where he makes his debut in 2016/2017 as Taddeo in L'Italiana in Algeri, Donner in Das Rheingold and Andrey Shchelkalov in Boris Godunov. Other roles in Nürnberg for the season 2015/2016 included Zurga in Les pêcheurs de perles, the title role of Don Giovanni , Marcello in La Bohème, Il conte d'Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Escamillo in Carmen, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus.
After
singing at the beginning of the season the roles of Ramiro (Ravel's L'Heure espagnole), L'Horloge et le Chat (Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges), at Cologne Opera, french baritone Thomas Dolié will make his
debut at the Berlin's Komische Oper with the role of Abramane (Rameau's Zoroastre), from 18 June, 2017 to 14 July, 2017.
And
it is precisely in Berlin that resides the young french soprano Sara Gouzy, graduated
from the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler". This season, she sings the role of Flaminia (Il Mondo della luna by Haydn) in Munich with the Kammeroper München Orchester.
Other french artists are regularly invited to sing in the German theaters, such as the soprano Amel Brahim-Djelloul , who will give a recital on 6 April 2017 with the pianist Anne le Bozec and the flutist Sandrine Tilly at Stuttgart ; or mezzo-soprano Isabelle Druet who will sing Au pays où se fait la guerre, with the quatuor Giardini on 7 April 2017 at Heidelberg and mezzo's partof the Johannes Passion on 14 Avril 2017 at Cologne ; or tenor Jean-François Novelli who will be also at Cologne the day before, on 13 April 2017 with Scherzi Musicali and the program Dialoghi Amorosi ; or soprano Emmanuelle de Negri, who will sing the Natura Humana (Michelangelo Falvetti's Il diluvio universale) at Potsdam on 11 May 2017 (as part of a tour with Cappella Mediterranea conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón - which will also be lead to Geneva and Lyon); Or baritone Florian Sempey who will sing the role of Bajazet (Antonio Vivaldi's Tamerlano) with Les Accents on 2 June 2017 at Dortmund.
