Starting with his first sublimely disturbing theatre works, the Belgian Nobel laureate Maurice Maeterlinck single-handedly introduced the great change that would open the way to the theatre of the 20th century. Today, his Trois petits drames pour marionnettes forms the libretto of a new opera commissioned by La Monnaie. Under the title Le Silence des ombres, the French composer-conductor Benjamin Attahir and director Olivier Lexa opted decisively for the invisible and the unsayable. A triptych abounding in restrained dramatic tension at la Monnaie de Bruxelles from 25 September to 6 October 2019 and then, later during the season, at the Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg on 16 May 2020.
Bass Renaud Delaigue will sing the roles of Aglovale (La mort de Tintagiles) and Ablamore (Alladine et Palomides).
Among his other projects of the season, Renaud Delaigue will sing Brander in Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust in concert at the Philharmonie de Paris with the Orchestre de Paris and will also sing in various concerts with the Ensemble Clément Janequin, La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy or Chiome d'Oro.
