Songline, monodic itinerary

by  Marc Mauillon

The year 2016 is still rich in dreams realized for  Marc Mauillon with, in particular, the two title-roles of Pelléas at the Opera de Malmö in May and then Orfeo at the Opéra de Dijon.

The baritone is again under the light of the news with the album  « Songline, un itinéraire monodique » and the shows of this new program with the artist alone on stage (in Paris and Rouen).

The album will officially be released on Wednesday, December 8, 2016, the day of the first show created, with the complicity of Yannick Hugron (choreography) and Stéphanie Langard (scenography), at the POP in Paris. This show will be followed by three other performances on December 10 and 11, again at the POP and December 15, this time at  Chapelle Corneille (Rouen)

The disc has already been elected Disc of ConcertClassic.com (Alain Cochard):

"Mauillon is of course a timbre, a color, a vocal material immediately identifiable - rare privilege ... "

"Songline: this time, it is a question of following Mauillon in a 'monodic itinerary' born from the reading of Bruce Chatwin's Songlines, a book inspired by the search for the sung routes of the Australian aborigines. "

"A little more than an hour, oscillating between the sacred and the profane, past and modernity, Mauillon holds the listener in suspense; Each piece constitutes a stage of a solitary and intensely lived journey, without an ounce of narcissism."

Pieces of Jehan de Lescurel, Grazioso da Padova, Lorenzo da Firenze, Marchetto Cara, Guillaume de Machaut, Bernart de Ventadorn, Blanche de Castille, Anonimous, Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988), Philippe Leroux (né en 1959), Meredith Monk (born on 1942), Georges Aperghis (born on 1945) / 1 CD Le Petit Festival / Son an ero 07.
