Before hearing baritone Edwin Fardini and bass Frédéric Caton in January and February, both singing Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, it is baritone Thomas Dolié who is launching the Milanese festivities these days.
On December 20 and 21, he will make his debut at the prestigious Teatro alla Scala, performing the roles of the Father and Polydorus in Hector Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ, under the direction of John Eliot Gardiner. This autumn, he already sang this work alongside the Gürzenich Orchester conducted by François-Xavier Roth, this time in the role of Joseph.
The rest of his season will see him sing the roles of Taïrapa in Reynaldo Hahn's L'île du rêve with the Bayerischer Rundfunk (conducted by Hervé Niquet), the Count (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Israel with Marc Minkowski's Musiciens du Louvre, or the title role of Ambroise Thomas's Hamlet at the Hong Kong Opera.
