Welcome to Hélène Carpentier!

Lyric soprano

At this beginning of the year 2018, we are particularly pleased to welcome the very talented and promising soprano Hélène Carpentier among our artists.

At only 22 years old, she is one of the 12 finalists selected for the upcoming national final of the « Voix Nouvelles 2018 » singing competition, which will take place this 10 February at the Opéra Comique in Paris (alongside, Kévin Amiel and Eva Zaïcik among others).

Furthermore, she has already won several singing competitions in 2017: 1st Prize "Woman Opera", 2nd Prize "Mélodie Française", Best promizing singer Prize, Audience Award and Special Jury Prize at the 29th Concours International of Marmande, Grand Prize and Best Performer Award for the Italian Repertoire of the 3rd Concours Opéra Raymond Duffaut Jeunes Espoirs in Avignon, and Best promizing singer Prize at the 2nd Concours International de Chant Robert Massard of Bordeaux.

Next season, she will interpret Micaëla in a young audience adaptation of Carmen (G. Bizet) at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in may 2019. Then, she will sing the soprano solo part from Mozart Requiem with Accentus et Insula Orchestra directed by Laurence Equilbey and staged by the circus artist Yoann Bourgeois at the Opéra de Rouen, in Grenoble, at the festival Les Nuits de Fourvière in Lyon and at the Seine Musicale.

Originally trained as pianist and flutist, she discovered singing in her hometown, Amiens, where she met Marie-Dominique Loyer, with whom taught her breathing and voice technique, the approach to the different repertoires and prepared her for competitions.

First admitted to the adult choir of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris (led by Henri Chalet) in 2015, she trained mainly in the sacred, polyphonic and solo repertoire.
She participated in many productions of the adult choir: Bach's Johannes Passion under the baton of Philippe Pierlot in March 2016 and solo concerts at Notre-Dame de Paris, in July and September 2016.

In addition, and in parallel with her studies at the Maîtrise, she continued her training as a soloist, always with Marie-Dominique Loyer. In 2016 she is accepted at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), in Marcel Boone's singing class.

During her studies at the CNSMDP, she participated in various productions, such as: Bach's Cantata BWV 80 as soloist, under the baton of Bruno Cocset in November 2016 and Cantatas IV / V plus Weinachtsoratorium BWV 248 of the same composer, as chorister, under the baton of Laurence Equilbey in January 2017, at the German Evangelical Church in Paris. She was also soloist for the wolrd Premiere of Arthur Oldham's Laudes Creaturarum, under the baton of Lionel Sow, at the Philharmonie de Paris, on January 2017.

On October 2017, at the CNSMDP, she sang a Monteverdi's Ballo delle ingrate and madrigals programm, under the direction of Paul Agnew. She sang the role of Gabriel in Haydn's The Creation on November 2017, under the baton of David Reiland, at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris.

On December 2017 she interpreted Stephano's aria as part of "Révisez vos classiques !", dedicated to Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, at the Opéra de Rennes.

She was invited to the Bolshoi Christmas Festival in Minsk on December 2017, to sing at the closing gala of the Christmas festival. At the same time, she participated in the Minsk International Competition, of which she was a finalist.

Very curious of all the repertories, she is passionate for each one, with a particular predilection for the Opera.

Hélène Carpentier is supported by the Tarrazi Fund and the Meyer Foundation in 2016.
